About the Strongly Correlated Electronic
and Mesoscopic Systems (SCEaMS) Group
- The SCEaMS Group Seminar is a (roughly!) weekly gathering
that brings together some 25 to 50 undergraduates, graduate students,
postdoctoral researchers and faculty at UIUC with interests in
mesoscopic systems (and related areas).
- The program is quite varied, consisting of tutorial lectures,
discussions of in-progress research and recent journal articles, and
external seminar speakers.
- The program is also very flexible, and responds rapidly
to exciting new developments.
- There are four elements to the mission of this seminar:
- to disseminate the very latest research results from our
own groups and from elsewhere;
- to contribute to the education of graduate students by
bridging the gap between conventional course work and research;
- to foster interaction between experimentalists and theorists;
- to help graduate students improve their public presentation
skills.
- The program of activities for the forthcoming week is broadcast
electronically. (Send e-mail to
Paul Goldbart
if you would like to be included on the mailing list.)
It can also be reached from here.
