The lecture notes for Time Dependent Perturbation Theory and for Path Integrals were posted on Tuesday January 16, 2007.
Problem set No. 1 was posted today, Wednesday January 17, 2007. It is due on Monday February 5, 2007. A number of students pointed out to me that there are misprints in questions 1 and 2 of the problem set. On Saturday Jan. 27, I edited both problems, edited the misprints and made the statement of the questions much more precise. The solutions to Problem Set No.1 were posted on Saturday February 10, 2007.
We will not have lectures on the following days: February 26 and 28, and March 5 and 7. We also lost one lecture due to the snow storm. We will make up these lectures on Friday January 26, Friday February 16 and 23, Friday March 16, March 30 and April 6. All the make up lectures will be held in our usual lecture room, Rm 144 LLP, from 1:00-2:20 pm.
Problem set No. 2 was posted on Sunday February 4, 2007. It is due on Monday February 19, 2007. The solutions to Problem set No. 2 were posted on Wednesday February 28, 2007. Problem 3 was edited for two typos today (Sunday 2/18/07).
The lecture notes for spin were posted on Tuesday February 6 and for the theory of angular momentum on Wednesday February 7.
The lecture notes for adiabatic processes and Berry phases were posted on Monday February 12.
Problem Set No. 3 was posted today, Wednesday February 28, 2007. It is due on Monday March 12, 2007, at 7:00 pm. The deadline for Problem set 3 was moved to Wednesday March 14, 2007, 7:00 pm The solutions to problem set No. 3 were posted on Wednesday April 4, 2007.
Problem set No. 4 was posted on Friday March 23, 2007. It is due on Monday April 9, 2007, at 7:00 pm. Item 6 in problem 4 of Problem Set No.4 was edited. It had a misprint and I added a hint. The solutions to HW set No.4 were posted on Sunday April 22.
The lecture notes for Identical Particles and for Second Quantization were posted on Monday March 26.
The lecture notes for Interaction of (Classical) Radiation with Matter were posted on Wednesday March 28.
The lecture notes for the quantized electromagnetic field and interaction of non-relativistic particles with the quantized electromagnetic field were posted on Thursday March 29.
The lecture notes for Relativistic Quantum mechanics and the Dirac Equation were posted on Tuesday April 3, 2007. This completes the set of notes for this class.

The lecture notes on the quantized electromagnetic field and on relativistic quantum mechanics have been rescanned and reposted on Monday April 9, 2007. please note that the notes have been broken up into files in a different way than I had them before. I have also posted some notes on matter at finite density and collapsed stars.
Problem Set No.5 was posted on Monday April 16, 2007. It is Due on Monday April 30, 2007, at 7:00 pm. Some minor misprints were fixed on Tuesday April 17. One of you pointed out to me today that there were more misprints. they are all in problem 1 parts 4 and 5. I have corrected them. On Tuesday April 24 I edited the problem set and in problem No.1 I added some relations obeyed by the polarization vectors. The solutions to problem set No.5 were posted on Saturday May 5, 2007.
I posted Problem set No. 6\ Take Home Final Exam, on Sunday April 29. It is due on Friday May 11, at 7:00 pm. Please put your solution sets in my mailbox in Loomis not in the TA's mail box nor in the Phys581 HW box. I don't have access to this box. Since this is the Final Exam you must > return your solutions to me in order to get a non-failing grade. Also I will not be able to accept late solution sets since I have to turn in my grades by Monday May 14 in the morning at the latest.
