5, 2006, at 5:00 pm CDT. It is a refresher of the mathematical background you
will need for this class. These are things you are supposed to have seen in math
classes. In any event some of this material is covered in Shankar's book. I have
also posted on the website a set of notes on this material. You should read it
before you do the problem set.

discussion you should read the classic textbooks on Classical Mechanics by Goldstein, and by Landau and

Problem No.1, part 4 was edited on November 11. You only neeed to look for s
wave and p wave bound states.

Problem Set No.7/ Final Exam was posted today, Tuesday November 14, 2006. It is
due on Friday December 8, 2006, at 5:00 pm CST. Note: You must send me your
solutions as a pdf file by e-mail to my e-mail account, efradkin@uiuc.edu. You
should not sent it to the TAs, nor should you put it in the course homework box.
No late sets will be accepted. You can either send me a typed or a handwritten
solution. In any case the pdf file should be clearly readable.
There was a misprint in the sign of the definition of x_0(k) in problem 2 which
was edited.
